Outdoor Fun activities in the Fort Myers Sun

HOLIDAY WATER SPORTS

There are so numerous ways to have entertainment on the water in Fort Myers and Holiday Water Sports has it all. One of the most remarkable experiences is flying high over the beach via a parasail. Mount the six-passenger winch boat straight from the sand on Fort Myers Beach. You’ll dangle calmly at the end of an 800-foot line with a free-fall drop into the water. Jet Ski’s are at the other edge of the spectrum, an own gas-powered watercraft delivering speed and exhilaration. Other rentals incorporate stand up paddle boards or SUPs, aqua cycles with large flotation wheels and more.

SUN SPLASH FAMILY WATERPARK

There is enough water in the Fort Myers area but there is only one, right water park. Sun Splash Family Water Park holds more than 14 acres of pools, water slides, and activities for the whole family. Kids go crazy for the adrenaline tapping speed slides and the five-and-a-half tale free-fall drop. If that’s too much activity, grab a float and quietly bob down the Main Stream River Ride. There’s a Tot Point for the little ones and lots of chairs for mom and dad for the couch in the sun. Food and permissions are available along with many special opportunities throughout the summer, so be sure to review the events calendar online. The water park typically ends at the end of October through February, then the place is used for festivals, concerts, and special events.

LAKES REGIONAL PARK

Strolling the 2.5 miles of paved and unpaved paths at Lakes Park is free but if you have some extra dollars there are bike and boat rentals too. Exercise stations with waterfront views are ideal for burning a few calories. The small water park is free for children to cool off and concessions are open. Check out the Miniature Railroad that gives a 15-minute ride past a small order village. Also, look for unusual vegetation and the rare alligator in the 158 acres of freshwater game lakes; fishing is permitted. On your hike or ride, look for birds like Heron and Ibis, enjoy the scented garden, a yearly community garden and rest in the gazebo or the many sheltered picnic areas. The park also holds many cultural and music festivities and an annual Farmers Market on Friday mornings.
